‘Scuse Me While
I Kiss the Sky

20" x 40" Acrylic on Canvas

The headstock and neck of a 1968 Fender Stratocaster emerging through the clouds pays tribute to one of rock music’s most famous misheard lyrics: Jimi Hendrix’s “’Scuse me while I kiss the sky.” The sunset clouds evoke the title of his signature song, “Purple Haze.” I photographed my own Stratocaster, strung backwards and lit from behind, then sourced period-correct decals, tuning posts, and knobs to replicate the guitar Hendrix played at Woodstock.
